Métropole Toulon Provence Méditerranée : IS security plan

We helped a CISO take up his new post in a new department created ex-nihilo by Netsystem.

Context & objectives

The Toulon Provence Méditerranée Metropolitan Area oversees the well-being of some 437,000 inhabitants in an area covering 12 communes. Against this backdrop, and with the extension of its responsibilities compared to the former community of communes, the TPM Metropolis chose to call on Netsystem to help it develop an information systems security plan and assist its manager.

Business challenge

In practical terms, the TPM metropolitan authority’s wish to benefit from coaching and professional assistance for its information systems security manager (within the framework of the ISO 27001 standard) was an indication of its needs in terms of :

  • Creation of an in-house security manager position.
  • Increased maturity in information system protection.
  • A point of contact to structure security-related projects and all associated issues.
  • Regular security reviews to provide management with a clear picture of its level of security and the actions it needs to take to improve.
Answers and method

Netsystem therefore undertook to support the TPM Metropole in the development, implementation and assessment of its Information Security Management System (ISMS). More specifically, our experts were involved at 5 levels:

  • During project scoping (co-production of the scoping note)
  • During the inventory of the existing ISMS (maturity assessment)
  • Comparative analysis with ISO 27001 specification expectations
  • During the detailed structuring of the ISMS project and its implementation
  • And finally, during the first ISMS review.
Key success factors
  • Ongoing dialogue
  • Strong listening skills
  • Good collaboration with numerous partners
